On the 29th of November 2018 the President of the Republic of Poland promoted Rector - Commandant of the Academy cpt (N) Tomasz Szubrycht to the rank of Rear Admiral. The Ceremony took place in the Presidential Palace Belweder in Warsaw as a part of the Midshipmen's Celebration Day - holyday of all miliatry students in Poland. 

Rear Admiral Tomasz Szubrycht, born 01.10.1963, started professional service for the Navy in 1987. In 1993 Rear Adm. Szubrycht has been deployed to the Naval Amphibious School, San Diego USA, graduating year later as the best student. In 1996 appointed master of the ORP "Hydrograf" warship, later, in 1997 for operational achievements obtained during BALTOPS exercise awarded with congratulations letter signed by commander of the 8th Aircarriers Group admiral W. W Copelland Jr.

In 1997-1998 Rear Admiral Tomasz Szubrycht was studying at the Naval War College w Newport (USA), again, graduating as the best student. In may 2002 had obtained the "doctor" diploma and started the service for the Naval Academy.Top achievement of his scientific carrier was obtaining the "Professor" title handed by the President of Poland in 2013. 

Since the 23rd of January 2015 Admiral prof. Szubrycht has been serving as the  Rector - Commandant of the Polish Naval Academy.
