INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN LAW – RULES OF REVIEWING ARTICLES

1. Two independent reviewers (from the list of the IHP reviewers) are appointed to review each publication. Third reviewer can be appointed if the case is justified (e.g. contradiction of the reviewers’ conclusions).

2. In case of texts written in English, at least one of the reviewers is affiliated to a foreign institution, other than the nationality of the author of a work.

3. Any correction or addition suggested by reviewers should be fulfilled, otherwise a publication will not be approved.

4. In each case, the author (s) ought to disclose the input and names of people who contributed to the publication (ghostwriting prevention and guest authorship or honorary authorship).

5. Only the editorial office should know the identity of authors and reviewers (double-blind review process).

6. If condition from point 5 cannot be fulfilled, a reviewer should sign a declaration of no conflict of interest. Any relations listed below are considered as a conflict of interest:

- direct personal relationships (kinship, legal relationship),
- direct professional relations (especially line of authority),
- direct scientific cooperation during 2 years prior to preparation of the review.

7. The review must be in written form and must end with a clear conclusion on whether the article should be published or rejected.

8. The conditions of articles’ publishing can be found in every volume of IHL. The review sheet with the contract and article printout in the form sent by the author are forwarded to the reviewers.

9. The names of the reviewers of individual publications and volumes are not revealed; once a year, the editorial office publishes an updated list of cooperating reviewers.
