Written by

Yearly meeting took place on 26th and 27th of November in Karlskrona. The meeting was to summarise foregoing cooperation as well as to look for some new areas of development according to the bilateral contract among Polish Naval Academy and Saab Kockums AB signed in Karlskrona on December 11th, 2017.

The PNA delegation were: Capt. N  Dariusz Bugajski, PhD,  prof. of PNA, vice-dean of Mechanical-Engineering Faculty Agata Załęska-Fornal, PhD and Cmdr. Marcin Kluczyk, PhD.

The Swedish delegation, apart from Saab Kockums AB, was also represented by Karlskrona Blekinge Institute of Technology (BIT) representatives along with Stockholm Swedish Academy of Defence (SAO) with rear-admiral Eve Skoog Haslum (deputy vice-chancellor).

During the first day of the meeting, November 26th, the representatives visited Saab Kockums shipyard in Karlskrona and later they were given a chance to get to know each other`s achievements to date and have a conversation over common areas of interest. The next day was for visiting the ships of the sea base in Karlskrona. The visit was hosted by commander of the 1st Flotilla of OP Capt. Mats Angeus along with several officers, commanders of visited ships: HSwMS Halland (OP) and HSwMS Belos (A214 - saving the crews of under-water ships).

Thanks to Saab Kockums AB and PNA cooperation, there are open lectures organized systematically at PNA leaded by Swedish engineers from the Swedish shipyard, who present the newest solutions in ships constructing and also systems of the sea armament. Also, our military and civil students of mechanics and machines building faculty have the possibility of doing their shipbuilding practice in Karlskrona.

As a crucial scientific event was also approved the Polish-Swedish Naval Technology Forum organized altogether yearly (the last one took place on 16-17 January 2019, and next will take place 25-26 March 2020).

Both, PNA and Saab Kockums AB are interested in developing the scientific co-operation. The possibility of co-operation  with the new Swedish partners: Blekinge Institute of Technology from Karlskrons and Swedish Academy of Defence from Stockholm is also very promising for our Academy. Soon PNA will sign the ERASMUS+ contract allowing to exchange both students and scientists of these universities.
