Officers promotion in the Academy

The Minister of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak participated on Saturday, September 1 in the solemn promotion of cadets of the oldest class in the Polish Naval Academy of the Heroes of Westerplatte. The ceremony of promotion for the first officer rank traditionally took place of board of the historic destroyer and a museum, the ORP Błyskawica. Firstly officer’s title was granted to Błażej Koreike this year’s top of the class bosun cadet. The promotion was made by the Chief of General Staff of the Polish Army, General Rajmund Andrzejczak.

With raising of the national flag and playing the national anthem began the ceremony at the Pomeranian Quay in Gdynia. Immediately after reading the decision of the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda about the promotion of the oldest class of officers to the rank of second lieutenant of the navy, a solemn promotion took place and an oath was promised by newly promoted officers.

40 graduates of the Naval Academy were promoted to the first officer's rank - the second lieutenant of the navy. Out of 27 promoted cadets studied at the Department of Navigation and Naval Armaments (DNNA), and 13 at the Faculty of Mechanics and Electrical Engineering (MEE). The newly promoted officer swords, which from now on will be worn to the gala attire, were handed by the rector-commander AMW kmdr prof. dr. hab. Tomasza Szubrychta.

On the behalf of the President of the Republic of Poland, the head of the General Staff of the Polish Army, General Rajmund Andrzejczak handed on the honorary broadsword of the Polish Navy to the primus. While the graduates, who took the second and third place, received distinctions from the Minister of National Defense Mariusza Błaszczaka and from the Rector-Commandant of the AMW kmdr. prof. Tomasza Szubrychta.

Minister Mariusz Błaszczak stressed that being an officer of the Polish Army, an officer of the Polish Navy is a great honor, but also a great commitment.

A day earlier, on Friday, August 31, in the audytorium of King Zygmunt II August the graduation ceremony of military studies took place. This day was also an opportunity to thank students who stand out in scientific, sports and social activities (e.g. work in student government).

The following were awarded for the best results in learning: bosm. cdt. Błażej Koreike, bosn. cdt. Dominik Kulwikowski, bosn. cdt. Beata Witkowska, bosn. cdt. Tomasz Bąchor, bosn. cdt. Michał Grylweicz i bosn. cdt. Dawid Wójtowicz.

For obtaining the best results in sport, the Rector-Commandant of the AMW distinguished: bosn. cdt. Tomasz Bąchor, bosn. cdt. Kacper Chodźko i bosn. cdt. Przemysław Szudzik.

However, for their commitment to social activity were honored: bosn. cdt. Tomasz Bąchor, bosn. cdt. Dominik Kulwikowski i bosn. cdt. Beata Witkowska.
