A group of midshipmen - Jakub Elgas, Daniel Kęsicki, Krzysztof Rawinis, Szymon Rębisz and Krystian Sokołowski -studing at the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering took part in the industry - technological practice in one of the most modern shipyard worldwide - SAAB KOCKUMS in Karlskrona/Sweden. The practice has been organised from the 4th of June to the 8th of June on basis of bilateral agreement between The Naval Academy and Swedish partner signed on the 11th of December 2017.
The midshipmen have been acquainted with the system of training and development of young workers based on welding laboratory, engine tests laboratory, building proces of new ships, as well as logistics system of the shipyard.
The students had opportunity to visit currently modernising Gotland class submarine as well as Swedish Coast Guard vessel staying in the shipyard.
The practice has been completed by summerising meeting - both sides expressed readines to continue that form of cooperation and possibly extend a period of practice. According to the Swedesh hosts, Polish midshipmen presented high level of professionalism and expertise. Mr. Johan Granholm - Senior Engineer Operational Development Saab Kockums said:
„It was a pure pleasure to receive the students. They were very well behaved, and showed great competence in the questions they asked and other response. We were happy to be able to put together a program that they seemed to find interesting, with visits to many different labs and workshops. Everybody got a good impression from them, and would be happy to see them again in the future. Also, the Swedish Navy midshipmen were happy to make their acquaintance and I think some good bonds for the future were forged. We also got good feedback from them on the last day, and some of their ideas and thoughts will be incorporated into the program for next practice.”
