REPORT FROM 1 STAGE CRUISE ORP WODNIK

The first step of the cruise began February the 12ve with leaving home port in Gdynia cruising through the Kiel Canal, what was very interesting part of the cruise concerning navigational context. Unfortunately, the weather was not good from the beginning. The crew and the cadets struggled with strong wind and bad sea condition of the sea not only on the Baltic Sea, but also while passing through the North Sea. However, bad conditions did not disturb in fulfiling watches and realizing planned tasks.

Surprisingly, despite earlier unfavorable and disturbing prognoses, the weather in the Bay of Biscay was kind for the ship and his crew, and the temperature did not drop below 15 Celsius after passing through the Strait of Gibraltar. During passes through next ports cadets were obliged to pass numerous subjects resulting from the program of astronavigation and marine practice.

On Sunday the 25th of February, the day before the official rounds of National Day of Kuwait, there was a meeting in officers` mess with the presence of the commander of the ship. Arabian cadets tried to bring more closer the essence of this Holiday and customs connected. Second part of the meeting was a presentation about Kuwait, what was a good introduction before scheduled visit in this exotic country. Also, during the meeting cadets were introduced to a ship cronicle, which first part was describing the first visit of the ORP WODNIK in the region of Persian Gulf.

To celebrate Gen. Sikorski and the sinking place of the ORP KUJAWIAK cadets were laying flowers in Strait of Gibraltar and the appointed point south to Malta. This time Polish cadets were introducing the facts of Polish history.
The last leg of this part of the cruise was Greek port Heraklion. After 3 days on the Greek island the cadets will start the second part of the cruise: 14 days` cruise to Qatar and Kuwait throughout very interesting water regions that are visited by Polish Navy very rare: the Suez Canal and the Red Sea.
